Meet Sheri

Sheri Schmitt has served as an Individual and Marriage Therapist at True Relationships since December 2013, but her counseling career started in 1993. She has balanced work in counseling, ministry, and motherhood. Her diverse experience helps her understand her client’s unique perspectives and challenges in the different stages of life. Sheri says, “It’s my honor to walk with people who are hurting and give hope. It brings me joy to join God's work.”

As a Christian therapist, Sheri uses evidence-based and biblical teachings to help clients with marriage counseling, premarital counseling, anxiety, depression, trauma (physical, emotional, sexual), relational skills, self-worth issues, life transitions, adjustment issues (new job, new school, new family), grief, women's issues (difficult birth, miscarriage, abortion, change in life, PMS), cutting, betrayal trauma, pornography, and affairs.  Sheri knows these are serious challenges, but she remains hopeful. Sheri says, “Christians have the greatest resource available in God. They can tap into Him, and God will meet them where they are at and amaze them in the process.”

“I’m where I should be. God orchestrated the whole thing,” Sheri says. She was called back into Christian counseling during a vacation visit to her parents. That Sunday, she went to church with her parents. During the sermon, the pastor interrupted his message and prayed for someone in the congregation who was being called back to the ministry. Sheri prayed that God would drop her where He needed her, and she would trust him the rest of the way. Years later, she is serving at True Relationships’ Columbus and Dayton locations and fulfilling the calling God gave her that Sunday.
